Choosing a solar security light
Draft for review. This guide is placeholder wording that the shop has not yet approved. It will be updated before launch.
Solar lights charge in the day and switch on at night, so there is no wiring and no electricity bill. They are popular for gates, compounds and walkways.
What to check
- Brightness: more watts usually means a brighter light, but quality of the LED and battery matters as much as the number on the box.
- Panel and battery: a bigger panel charges faster and a bigger battery runs longer. Panels that are separate from the light can be placed in the sun while the light sits in shade.
- Sensor and remote: some lights have a motion sensor and a remote to change modes.
- Mounting: put the panel where it gets full sun for most of the day, away from shade of trees and walls.
Tips
Clean the panel from time to time. Check how long the light runs on a full charge and how it behaves on cloudy days. Ask us what we have in stock.
